On May 11 we start shooting THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, Adam Driver, Abigail Spencer, Kathryn Hahn, Ben Schwartz, and Timothy Olyphant.
Mike Nichols is in talks to direct ONE LAST THING BEFORE I GO, which will be produced by J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot for Paramount Pictures.
Meanwhile, we are in Charlotte filming season 2 of Banshee, which will air on Cinemax in January 2014.
And I’ve just started making notes for a new novel for Dutton.

Big news on many fronts, which is why it’s taken me seven months to update this page.
My new novel (title pending) will be published by Dutton in September, 2012.
GREEN LIGHT!!!: In April we start shooting ten episodes of Banshee, created by me andDavid Schickler. David and I are writing all ten episodes, and exec producing along with Alan Ball (True Blood, Six Feet Under), Peter Macdissi (True Blood), and Greg Yaitanes (House). The show will debut on Cinemax in the winter of 2013. We are currently in the thick of casting. Numerous articles about it here.
Ed Burns and I are hard at work at independently producing the Book of Joe movie, which we hope to shoot this coming fall. More on that shortly.

New novel is coming along nicely. Waiting to hear HBO/Cinemax verdict on mine and Schickler’s TV pilot. Writing original feature (KODACHROME) for 20th Century Fox.

Still pounding away at something that is starting to resemble a novel. Sold a feature pitch to Dreamworks – here is the mostly accurate Deadline Hollywood article. Warners is meeting with directors for TIWILY. Waiting to hear the fate of mine and Schickler’s HBO pilot script.

Working feverishly on new novel. Turned in HBO pilot with David Schickler (Alan Ball is producing). Turned in rewrite on TIWILY script for Warner Brothers. Book tour in Germany week of Oct. 18. See “Events” page for any local appearances.

Steven Spielberg to Direct Harvey!
Steven Speilberg has committed to directing Harvey, Jonathan’s first screenplay, written for Fox 2000. The film will be a co-production of 20th Century Fox andDreamWorks. Production is planned for early 2010. Read about it here and here.

Jonathan’s new novel, This is Where I Leave You, comes out August 6, 2009. The novel has been optioned by Warner Brothers Studios, with Jonathan on board as the screenwriter. For book tour dates, click here.
